BIOGRAPHY
Queensland born Lawrence Starkey, started his vocation as an artist in 1979 and has consistently built a following for his evocative and detailed artworks. Currently located in the Scenic Rim, Lawrence has access to a wide variety of equine references.
With a solid grounding in technical proficiency, Lawrence's creative imagination can roam where it wills, uninhibited and confident in his mastery over his chosen mediums. Although choosing to work primarily with oil paints on canvas, Lawrence is also skilful in using pencils and pastels to produce some of his images. Lawrence is adept at the cleaning and restoration of paintings, along with gilding, repairing and restoring antique frames. Enquiries for commission pieces are welcomed! Lawrence has exhibited extensively in the USA, Japan and Australia. In addition to gaining numerous awards, he is part of a growing international market with his paintings regularly appearing in an variety of US magazines including, U.S. Art Magazine, Infomart and South West Art Magazine.
